Clear Channel needed a communication that clearly showed their UK-wide outdoor media network and how, by using it, advertising and marketing creatives could target local communities. We developed the concept of a nationwide street photography competition that asked people to represent their local area in images. The competition was open to all, but specifically targeted at advertising creatives. To promote it we produced a large format newspaper and a series of DPS inserts in creative magazines, as well as a campaign of online banner ads linked to a bespoke website, and various social media sites. A nationwide ad campaign was then launched, encouraging design and creative agencies’ photographers to hit the streets and take a memorable shot of their town. The campaign itself used the work of established photographers such as the talented and well-regarded photographer Dougie Wallace. His brash and bold work was the perfect ad for the competition. The competition was a great success, receiving thousands of entries culminating in an award ceremony at the RIBA.
